Superior Glue Pullers ...
REAL DEAL or Just Hype?
Many
brands now exist..many shapes, sizes and options. Ranging from $2.99 to
$995.00, so which one to use, and do they even work??!
Lets start at the bottom range: $2.99..yes, you read it right. $2.99 for
a basic bridge system. Not alot of glue included or gun, but you do get
a starting kit, and all with the comfort of a professionally broadcasted
infomercial. So do you buy it? If you read the comments in our PDR Forum
portion of our website (The PDR Room) you would certainly not. According
to several techs who have purchased this item, the unit is made in China,
and will flex and fold in on itself prior to extracting a dent. Great!
Just what you deserve for $2.99
So lets go to the other end of the spectrum- a puller for $995. Now if
this seems excessive to you..it should! Most reputable pullers on the
market today are anywhere in the $199 to $299 range, and you will get
favorable testimonies from almost all of them. So what is with this barely
sub-$1000 "Rolls-Royce model"? Is it that much BETTER? We spoke with Charlie,
a tech who recently purchased one at the Mobile Tech expo in Orlando earlier
this year and he broke it down in simple terms.."I returned the damn thing
within 15 minutes of opening it. It is nothing more than an over-engineered
puller, and overpriced. Im sticking with my original puller. I should
have known better".
And of course, this leaves us a spot to pump up our own pullers; We offer
two styles: One is the bridge system, which will allow you to dial out
the ding with twists of a knob, and, our slide hammer style puller, which
allows heavier pulling for more involved areas such as roof rails, truck
tailgates, wheel well edges, and even aluminum panels.
Check back soon for an upcoming technical article on how to use the slide
hammer puller for sharp door ding removal..
